Hudson, Wis. — Hudson-based Phillips-Medisize LLC is expanding a European facility to include a clinical manufacturing unit.

Phillips-Medisize, part of Molex LLC, plans to open the manufacturing facility in Struer, Denmark, in the second quarter of 2020, according to a Jan. 8 release.

The injection molder and medical manufacturer provides a range of custom drug delivery devices and manufacturing services worldwide.

Approximately 500 meters of floor space from the existing 8,400-square-meter building will be repurposed for a cleanroom.

The unit is part of a global innovation and development site. Phillips-Medisize opened a design and development office in Virum, Denmark in November.

The facility will serve clients with a setup for cleanroom assembly and molding with a potential for clinical trials. It will support late stage development of medium- and high-volume products and processes, the company said.

"This expansion accelerates the manufacture of innovative, compliant and best-in-class products while reducing time to market and lowering launch risk for drug delivery device customers," John Horgan, vice president of global sales and marketing, said in a news release. "Furthermore, it strengthens our client focus in Scandinavia by complementing the activities of our existing [development center] in Struer and our newest [center] in Copenhagen."
